Good ole days...........

Ok..so I'm wrapping up a job last friday. A workstation I had built had started acting squirlly, seems that a 7 year old 235 watt power supply is no match for a celeron 1.7ghz.....I digress. New PSU installed, all well, and off to the last machine this gig. Install a network card and make it part of the hive. Piece of cake, I had the card in hand, latest drivers, should be a simple job. It's been a repeat experience, I should never jinx my self planning....."simple job". The install went off without a hitch, clean fit, now it's time to load the drivers....and 2 things are missing. I scrounge around abit....ponder options, scrounge some more.....ponder again, then come to a realization that....well made me feel a little foolish. For whatever reason, this machine has no available mouse or keyboard......:) A quick run to the local "Office Depot" fixes this.......but it's there I get nostalgic.....WTF happened to basic white and beige products????? You know...the good ole fashion, simple, bullet proof keyboards? The simple beige wheel mouse. Products with wire thicker than phone cord???? Resigned to my fate, I settled for a $20.00 keyboard (basic black) and a $9.00 scrolling IR USB wheel mouse (black & silver w/PS2 adapter). It all worked fine, and machine was up and running withing a few minutes after.......but I miss beige and white.
